Chiefs Get Stung By Hornets 29-20

The Dee-Mack Chiefs suffered a loss against the Eureka Hornets at home Friday night, with a final score of 29-20. The Chiefs started the game with possession of the ball and marched up the field to Eureka’s 22-yard line before turning the ball over on downs. Eureka fired back with an 85-yard touchdown reception and extra point kick for an early 7-0 lead. Not to be outdone, The Chiefs had multiple runs up the middle, resulting in a touchdown. The 2-point conversion was good, putting the Chiefs in the lead 8-7.

Eureka’s next drive would make it to the Chiefs 27-yard line before having multiple plays broken up by the Chiefs defense. Dee-Mack started their drive on their own 27-yard line, however, this possession resulted in a bad snap/fumble that resulted in a loss of 10 yards leading to the Chiefs punting.

Eureka struck quickly with 2 long passes putting the ball in the end zone. Their 2-point conversion attempt was good, bringing the first half to an end with a score of 15-8.

Eureka started the third quarter and quickly put their passing game to good use with a long pass up the middle resulting in a touchdown and successful 2-point conversion. After a tough march up the middle, Chiefs Carson Cassady smashed into the end zone on a 9-yard run up the middle. The Chiefs 2-point conversion attempt failed.

The fourth quarter did not go the Chief’s way largely thanks to multiple bad snaps resulting in fumbles. Eureka scored again thanks to a QB sneak with a failed 2-point conversion. The Chiefs also scored one more time late in the game, but the Hornets would run out the rest of the clock.
