Chiefs Crush the Phoenix 40-14

Football playoff time is upon us once again as our Dee-Mack Chiefs hosted The North Lawndale College Prep High School (Phoenix) on Saturday afternoon. North Lawndale received the initial kickoff and quickly found themselves punting. Lucas Blumeyer received and ran the ball back about 30, leaving the Chiefs with excellent field position. Brent Denniston was repeatedly used to march the ball down the field, with Blumeyer getting into the end zone on a very impressive reverse to the left. The 2 point conversion attempt was no good.

North Lawndale took their 2nd possession, and like their first, it went absolutely nowhere in the face of the Chiefs defense. They decided to punt on a 4th and long situation. Blumeyer again received and showed the fans another long run back. The Chiefs once again brought out their not so secret weapon - Brent Denniston - and put him to work. This time, Brent would push the ball to inside the 5 yard line to set up Quarterback Ethan Baez to ram through the defensive line with a run up the middle for another touchdown, followed by a successful 2 point conversion. The rest of the game would go in the same fashion: North Lawndale would turn over on downs and then allow Denniston to steadily push the ball within scoring range, which the Chiefs could manage to capitalize on.

In the 2nd half, North Lawndale showed some signs of life as they managed to score twice, however, it was far too little too late. Brent Denniston and company continued to show why the Chiefs are a playoff team as they showed off their run game. The game ended with a final score of 40-14, and the Chiefs will go on to play the Tri-Valley Vikings next weekend.
