Funks Grove Country Store: Antiques, Primitives

The Funks Grove Country Store is a store that offers a wide range of antiques spanning decades. The owners of this store are Judi Braid, who I interviewed for this spotlight, and Rey Jannush. In 2018 the two decided to partner up and run the antique store together. When speaking to Judi she said that they “both love antiques and creating, so that was probably the big draw to do it together.”

This building has a long history, being built in 1902 and originally owned by Mrs. and Mr. Walker where they ran Walker’s grocery store. They owned the business from 1920 to 1973. In 1973 Rey Jannusch and Rick Jannusch bought the building and opened up an antique store. Later on, as I said earlier in the article, Rey decided to partner up with Judi and run the business together.

Going more specifically into what the Country Store provides, they offer antiques, primitives, vintage decor, a multitude of styles, and items from multiple decades; just a mixture of all kinds of things, making them a unique store.

People from all over the area come to shop at the Country Store, many customers becoming regulars. When speaking on this Judi talked about how she loves the customers who will come back again and again, sale after sale, and event after event. She loves people and catching up with all of the regulars, creating a comforting and family-like atmosphere.

The Funks Grove Country Store is a fun and unique store to go to when looking for vintage items and antiques. They not only have a wide range of products but are also happy to work with their customers to get exactly what they are looking for. If you want to see more of what the Country Store offers, a great place to visit is their Facebook page at “Funks Grove Country Store”. Coming up soon on November 6th and 7th, they are hosting a Christmas Open House from 10-3 on both days. If you wish to visit during this time their address is 8047 E. 550 North Road, McLean, IL 61754.
