OHS Weekly Sports Recap

As the fall season of sports dies down, many sports and activities at Olympia High School have reached their post-season. Last Saturday the 30th the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams both competed in their sectional meet. At this meet, the Boys Team took second with Owen Dare finishing 10th and Carter Phillips finishing 21st. The Girls Team finished 3rd overall with Anna Bieber taking 15th and Abby Litwiller taking 21st.

Then this Saturday, the 6th, both Cross Country teams competed in the IHSA State Meet, their final meet of the season. At this meet, the Boys Team finished 8th overall with Owen Dare in 35th and Logan Demling in 51st out of 260 runners. The Girls Team came in 22nd overall with Chrystal Cornwell finishing 118th and Anna Bieber finishing 133rd. While the Cross Country teams finished their post-season, the Girls Swim team started theirs. On Saturday the girls competed in their sectional meet hosted at Normal West High School later in the afternoon.
As these two remaining fall sports conclude their seasons, winter sports are fast approaching. Girls and Boys Basketball are practicing and preparing for an eventful season as well as Wrestling and Boys Swim.

Our fall sports and activities have had eventful seasons. Football ended off strong with a win against Pontiac, concluding their 2021 season. Our Girls Volleyball team were strong competitors throughout the season but were unable to make it past Regionals. Both Boys and Girls Golf had good seasons with quite a few new members on the team and Boys Soccer had some good games despite their low roster. Overall this fall held some good seasons, hopefully, the winter can result in the same.
